About me

Just when I thought that my life could not get any worse I was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer on the 27th October 2022. A day to remember for sure. I had symptoms all through summer and it got worse and worse but of course all the doctors that I have consulted during this period found harmless explanations until I was lastly declared "affected by postnatal depression" since my symptoms started shortly after my second child was born.

Fast forward to today I had chemo, surgery and chemo and have a 50/50 chance to survive. Coping with that alone is sometimes easier and sometimes not so easy. Finding the energy to deal with all day life, following the doctors advice and still trying to enjoy life to the fullest fills out my life.

The recovery period after an Oesophagectomy is stated with 2 years but of course, when you have to say good bye to big parts of your oesphagus and stomach, you will never ever eat in the same, naive way that you have before. The information that the NHS is giving you or that you can find on the internet is complicated, difficult to interpret and contradicting. One site says you can and should eat sugar for energy, the other page says no sugar at all and your dietician might say "only a little bit".

So this blog is for all like me, who are struggling to find their way through the nutrients-jungle, always in sight of a toilet, never trusting a fart and so desperate for a decent meal. I show you what I eat, what works and what doesn't. It might not work for you the same way but it can give you inspiration. And maybe you can give me the one or other advice too.

I am doing this for fun, there are no adverts, sponsored posts or tries to sell you something. I do not want your credit card details.
